Robert Parker - 93 Points

"The finest wine I have tasted from this estate in many years is the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill. This unfined and unfiltered, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon spent nearly two years in 70% new French oak. The results include superb black raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry notes intermixed with charcoal, acacia flowers, and mocha scents. Full-bodied with sweet, velvety tannins, superb concentration, and a long, layered finish, this beauty can be consumed over the next 15-20 years."

Due to the high demand for this award-winning wine, we are limiting orders to a maximum of 6 bottles per customer.
Appellation: Napa Valley
Vineyard/Special Designation: Pritchard Hill Estate
Varietal Specifics: 100% Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon
Sugar: 0.00
Oak: 70% new French
Time in Oak: 22
Acidity: 0.00
Tasting Notes: Full-bodied, with wonderfully rich aromas of kirsch, cassis, blackberries, winter spices and baker's cocoa. The tannin structure is well integrated and the wine displays a nice balance of acidity and fruit. This wine will cellar very well, and with proper decanting you will find it approachable now.
Vintage Notes: At 1000 feet elevation on Pritchard Hill, the rocky loam, volcanic hillside soil of our former Estate Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, provide an excellent home for superior Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This vintage is sure to be a collector's item, as it will be the last vintage branded as "Estate Bottled".
Winemaker Notes: Our grapes were hand sorted and gently crushed. The juice and skins went through cold maceration prior to fermentation. We used native yeast for fermentation and the wine underwent extended maceration after primary fermentation to provide softer, integrated tannins. The wine went through native malolactic fermentation in the barrel, aging for 22 months in 70% new French oak and then bottled unfined and unfiltered.

"Tight, intense, focused and structured, with vibrant black cherry, currant, wild berry, spice and light cedary oak. Though firm and concentrated, this reveals an elegant mouthfeel, showing just a trace of heat on the finish. Firmly tannic. Best from 2010 through 2017." James Laube
