"This brilliant Chardonnay was barrel-fermented in French oak and aged sur-lie for ten months. It boasts abundant amounts of honeysuckle and tropical fruits in a medium-bodied, pure, crisp format. Only a light touch of wood in noticeable. Consume it over the next 1-2 years."

2004 Russian River Chardonnay
A full bodied, supple, moderately complex wine, with good balance and a medium long finish. It tastes of pineapple, peach, toast, roasted nut and oak.

This Napa winery has been reaching into the Russian River for their Chardonnay, with good results. Dry and crisp in acids, the wine has a minerality behind the green apple, peach and melon flavors. The firm structure should provide for aging through 2009.

Hints of flowers and a suggestion of Muscat in the nose give the wine a light and lively quality while its honey and oak aromas fill it out admirably. Medium-full in body and decently balanced if a little bit on the open side in its youth, this tasty bottling may lack for a bit of complexity but more than compensates with its ripe and fully fruity flavors.
