Vintage Notes
2016 was another near perfect growing season with idyllic weather throughout the year. Given the region’s geography and typically cooler climate—due to a nightly fog layer—grapes tend to ripen slower, and develop a certain characteristic acid structure and character in the Russian River Valley. The quality of fruit was once again impressive, marked by complex citrus and stone fruit character

Vineyard Notes
Sourced from the Dutton Ranch vineyards in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma. These vineyards have garnered international acclaim for producing world-class Chardonnay with exciting varietal character. While Girard is primarily known for crafting Napa Valley wines, we decided long ago to source Chardonnay from the best parts of the Russian River Valley; its climate and soils impart distinctive acidity, minerality, and balance which further elevate the noble grape.

Tasting Notes
This is a heady Chardonnay with aromatics that develop over time in the glass. Aromas of stone fruit, orange zest and oak spice turn into vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate reveals quince, pear and juicy white peach flavors with supple palate weight, and integrated acidity and minerality to round out the refreshing but substantial finish.
