Vintage Notes
The 2016 vintage for Napa Valley remained on track with previous years in terms of smaller yields of slightly smaller clusters. The quality of the lower yields remained high, in spite of early concerns about the few heat spikes during early summer months. Fortunately, cooler August temperatures slowed ripening to a luxurious pace which allowed us to harvest each parcel at optimal ripeness.

Vineyard Notes
Sourced from select vineyards, including Morgan vineyard in the southeastern area of Napa Valley where the cooler climate affords grapes brisk acidity and bright fruit flavors. Another key source, Godward vineyard in Calistoga, is planted with older vines, and adds deep wells of flavor and polished character to our Old Vine Zinfandel.

Tasting Notes
Bold blackberry and black currant fruit notes rise from the glass, laced with baking spice and floral aromas. The palate showcases elegant black cherry and raspberry flavors. The finish reveals the oak impact; French oak lends sweet vanilla essence, savory toast notes are imparted by the American oak, while the Hungarian oak elevates Zinfandels’ characteristic sweet spice. All combined, the fusion of oak affords the wine a smooth and luxurious finish.

Super Juicy
I love a juicy Zinfandel, and this one certainly is JUICY. Dark fruit and a peppery spice. Yum.
